Under the Bureau of Indian Standards act, 2016 there could be a notification coming our way from the government making the hallmarking on gold and silver jewelry mandatory. Here’s too an end to malpractices and unethical resolves. While most of the leading jewelers have already religiously been following the practice of hallmarking gold jewelry for almost a decade now, there are many who look the other way and cheat their customers by selling a lesser volume of gold as 22 karat.
We can expect hallmarking to initially be mandatory in the metro cities and eventually the tier-2 and 3 cities. With about 317 hallmarking centers and constant hallmarking surveillance facilities jewelers should not have to face any problem from getting their jewelery hallmarked.
The Caratstyle team is waiting in anticipation as we understand the relationship between the jeweler and the customer is built completely on trust. We are really hoping that this is not all just speculation and that; we should see action taken in and around September 2016.
